New Jersey just passed the John R. Lewis Voter Empowerment Act, enacting one of the strongest state voting rights laws in the nation at a time when attacks on the freedom to vote are becoming more aggressive.

The nonpartisan Fair Districs NJ coalition advocates for an impartial redistricting policy in New Jersey. Currently, politicians draw district lines designed to benefit those in office (gerrymandering). Fair Districts  recommends that districts be redrawn by an impartial, independent citizens commission.
